Ramadan Day 8
Mar. 18th, 2024 10:40 pmWowie had a very long day and actually got quite a lot more done than I anticipated I would be able to do. Very pleased with myself and what cups I poured my energy into today. I think most importantly for me I had a research meeting where I asked for a lot of clarification about a worry I didn't understand and was very firm about my feelings on next steps and the meaning behind my work. My meeting was in the late afternoon where I was really noticing my hunger, plus we usually eat food during these meetings that I bring as a way to provide further connection. But I was very brave and very firm and thankfully it was enormously well received, which is like the cherry on top.
I am also finding it easier to let people know that I'm fasting without feeling weird about disclosing. Also slowly becoming more ok with people seeing me drink water and worrying less about having to explain the accommodations I am making for myself so that I can participate in fasting without sabotaging my health. Definitely a solid day for noticing progression. I let my dad know that I am fasting because I anticipated he would be the easiest to tell, and while I don't have other interactions to compare to, he was (as predicted) very easy to tell without weird reactions. Feeling grateful my mentioning it was received with the same ease as updating him on the weather patterns or my meeting schedule.
Nice little picture of my Hirbawi kuffiyeh in the sunlight from today while I took some photos that I thought would be for my project but will actually be better suited for a student-run magazine submission.
